DNS stands for Domain Name Server (also called a "nameserver").
The DNS information on your domain record (WhoIs record) looks like this:
primary nameserver: ns1.examplename.com
secondary nameserver: ns2.examplename.com
The DNS information on your domain record tells the registry what hosting company you are using to host your domain. Therefore, if you use a hosting company other than PowerPipe.com, it is important that your hosting company provide you with the names of their primary and secondary nameservers so that you can set your DNS record.
TO SET YOUR DNS RECORD:
Please log into your domain management account at http://www.access.enom.com using your domain (without www in front) and your password you selected when registering your domain. If you have lost your password, please go to www.powerpipe.com and click on the "Your Account" tab, then select Option #6.
Once you have logged in, please click on "Edit" button under "DNS Information". Select "Custom" and enter your primary and secondary nameserver names, and then click "Save". Please be sure to enter nameserver names only. DO NOT enter IP addresses like 123.234.123.234
The management tool does not need to know your IP address information for your hosting company. It just needs to know the primary nameserver name and the secondary nameserver name only.
NOTE: DNS INFORMATION MAY TAKE 24 HOURS or MORE TO RESOLVE THROUGHOUT THE WWW and begin to work. After 24 hours, you should be able to see any images and text (html) you have loaded onto your web server at your hosting company by typing in your domain name (URL) into your web browser (like Internet Explorer 6).
